A great solution if you have Glaucoma or Cataracts

We cannot reverse the damage caused by glaucoma. But treatment and regular checkups can help slow or prevent vision loss, especially if you catch the disease in its early stages.

We treat glaucoma by lowering your eye pressure (intraocular pressure). Depending on your situation and the type of glaucoma you have, your options may include prescription eye drops, oral medications, laser treatment, surgery or a combination of any of these.

  • iStent Trabecular Micro-Bypass Stent is a type of MIGS (micro-invasive glaucoma surgery) indicated for use in conjunction with cataract surgery to reduce intraocular pressure (IOP) in adult patients with mild to moderate open-angle glaucoma currently treated with ocular hypotensive medication.
  • iStent treatment works by restoring the natural outflow of aqueous in eyes with open-angle glaucoma.
  • It also lowers the intraocular pressure to inhibit glaucoma progression and prevent visual field loss.
  • In patients with mild-to-moderate glaucoma on multiple medications, iStent can reduce the need for medications and improves ocular surface disease (OSD).
  • iStent can be offered to almost every glaucoma medication patient requiring cataract surgery.
  • iStent maintains the intraocular pressure in the low to mid-teens over several years.
  • iStent has an excellent safety profile and rapid recovery time in mild-to-moderate glaucoma.
  • iStent can be combined with cataract surgery.
  • iStent has a low risk of possible dislocation of implant and need for further surgery.
  • Patients with progressive glaucoma may require further non-filtration surgery.
  • The stage of your glaucoma and your lifestyle influence what treatment we recommend.
  • Glaucoma treatments include:
    • Eye drops
    • Laser treatment
    • Surgery.

Treating glaucoma is a team effort between you and your doctor. First, your ophthalmologist will prescribe your glaucoma treatment. After that, it is up to you to follow your doctor’s instructions and use your eye drops.

Through various treatment methods, we can halt or delay the onset of glaucoma and prevent the occurrence of associated symptoms.
